I have had a whirl-wind week!!
From last weekend in Vegas, then to Atlanta for the SMS workshop, home for a day with Jaxon and Jayci and then out to Rhode Island... it's been nuts.
When i arrived at my lay-over destination on Friday, I was told that the flight was delayed. Then after hanging out for hours... waiting... the flight was cancelled!! Luckily, my friend (and photographer) Vicki Taufer www.vgallery.net was on the same flight, and we spent the night together on the airport on benches!! ha
I think Vicki actually slept. (even though her fakey-sleepy pic says otherwise!! :) )
I, on the other hand...
well, I was glad to get to RI http://www.ppari.com/Downloadfiles/PPARIConv07.pdf on Saturday morning. After showers (thankfully!!), Vicki had to do a program, and I went to judge the print competition (wet hair and all...). It was so fun to judge with two of my favorite photographers, Jack and Nancy Hallowitz, among others.
Here is the portrait that I gave my "judges ribbon" to:
The print is called "little pixie" and was photographed by Serena Parente-Charlebois. (don't worry, I can't say it either). During the judgeing this print spoke the most to me. It's always a humbling position to actually walk through the competition and place your ribbon on your favorite print. I kept going back to "little pixie". This snapshot doesn't do it justice. It's a haunting, almost surreal image of a little girl in this field of leading lines. The look on her face is just captivating.
Today I spoke to a room full of gracious Rhode-Islanders. The weather was beautiful! Especially after leaving the Iowa blizzards! The people were amazing, and the food wonderful - even while attending to my being a vegetarian.
Here's a picture of the "class" after lunch.
(It's my dad's birthday, too!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!)
This is photographer Bobbi, who came all the way from Texas!!
And my new friend David Jay www.davidjay.com . I was so excited to meet David!! I've been following his work - which is amazing!! He's an incredible guy AND, he's so dang cute!!
Last, but not least, here are a couple of images of our cute little model today!!
Tonight, I'm back in the airport. I'm stuck in Rhode Island, with a 2 hour delay - which means I won't make my connection in Chicago. THAT means another night in the airport, or at best the airport hotel.
AH, the joys of travel...
I hope you're ok and found a hotel at least. Let me know if you didn't because Chicago is my second home and so I know a good place you could stay!

Hi,
While reading a David Jay post I heard about your extended stay in Chicago. I was going to invite you guys out for dinner but you're gone. If you ever get stuck in Chicago and get bored, feel free to hit me up and I can show the town. Be blessed and keep shooting!
