Texas School
Coming up next week will be my second year to teach at the Texas School of Professional Photography. It's a week-long intense training, and I can't wait!! When you're with a classroom full of excited photographers for an entire week, it can be scary what comes out! The good, the bad, and the ugly are sure to be revealed! lol
If you're reading this and you're coming, I can't WAIT to meet you!! We're going to have so much fun!!
If you're reading this and would like more info so you can attend next year, check out the TPPA website

OK Lori… here are my award winning comments:
I know your motto for the week at TX school is "Keep it Simple" but now I'm a little afraid to find out what your idea of simple is… since you have… count'em…THREE blog spaces on the net! HELLO! I was thinking you were going to help me find time to squeeze in one more reality TV show each night of my life! All this digital editting is getting in the way of my relax time! I sure am hoping you will be able to shed some light on the following: when hiring
your first employee – what do you most need them to do for you? I feel like I need another me! I also want to maximize the use of my small space and provide wall samples that are really helpful and
meaningful to my clients. Finally, I really do want to get some great ideas about how to save time – so I can cuddle with my hubby and kids more! I can't wait to meet your spunky little self! Your
emails and blogs drip with enthusiasm!!! (Did I win? Should I say you're beautiful? Can I slip you a $20?) Tee-Hee!
With anticipation,
Gia Guidry

I am soooooooooooooo excited, I am bringing my WHOLE family with me...seriously, my almost 3 year old, 8 month old...and their nanny (aka: my mom!)
Okay, so it WAS NOT my first choice, but I stayed up until midnight back in January to attend this class...having missed it last year becuase I was pregnant! I was planning to wean my 8 month old over the last few weeks and then leave my kiddos w/my hubby and parents while I am away. Yet, the Lord had other plans...my little guy has been really sick the last week and our pediatrician feels with all the tests he has endured, it would be WAY to traumatic to leave him at home w/no mommy and a bottle, having never really taken a bottle.
So, what's a girl to do that is jonesing to LEARN from a Young Gun??? I am left with no choice but to bring them along and feed my son at least at breakfast and bedtime!!!
So, I can NOT wait...I am so excited to learn and soak up all I can. I am on the verge of purchasing a new studio space or building a home and moving my current studio home, so I can't wait to get your feedback, as well as the PPA Financial guru.
Also, workflow and MARKETING...how do I find time to create AWESOME marketing pieces while giving my current clients the best service I can!??!?! AND/OR what and when do I start out-sourcing?!??!
Equipment recommendations?!?!?!
Did I say workflow?!?! That's a big one :-)
See you in "gig em" land :-)

OMG!!! I am SO EXCITED to be learning from one of the YOUNG GUNS at Texas School!! You so totally deserve that distinction - CONGRATS big time, Lori!!! I can't believe that the week is almost here.....it will totally ROCK with you at the helm! We are going to learn so much and have a blast doing it. I'm pretty new to all of this - I've only been shooting for a little over a year - but I am completely IN LOVE with photography and I am anxious to learn more, so that I can GO PRO!!!! Okay, it is my second love - after my awesome 2 year old son, Evan, who is my little inspiration and my favorite subject to "shoot!" lol. BTW - if you need a toddler model sometime next week, I can have him there in, like....two hours!! :) Anyway, I CAN'T WAIT to meet you and learn TONS!! Please share some things about Iowa, too - my grandparents were both from Des Moines. So yes, TEXAS and IOWA ROCK!! See you in College Station!! Dalene Killian

Wow. I can't believe it's less than two days away! I have to start packing! This is my first time at TX School. Last yr I had a newborn and was sleep deprived and vowed I would go in 08. I'm looking forward to learning all kinds of things such as pricing, sticking to policies yet keeping positive word of mouth, and mostly workflow so I can better balance family time with work. I've only been in business a little over two years and like many others, have young kids at home. My business is small because that's what works for me during this stage of life, but I still struggle in streamlining a workflow so I'm not wasting time in front of the computer when I could be with my family. I look forward to this week and hopefully coming home with some strategies to keep it simple!
